It Takes Just 10 Minutes to Discover New Music Talent on Viberate
❓ WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS GUIDE:
We’ll show you how to find rising stars in a matter of minutes using Viberate's Charts that include every single artist in the world. Many of them are diamonds in the rough, ready to get discovered. Viberate’s Charts are entirely objective, as the artists are listed solely according to their online performance.
We’ll also explain two additional easy ways of talent discovery, using Genre and Country analytics, where we’ve already selected the artists on the rise in local markets and specific genres.
➡️ Let’s go through a practical example. Say we’re working for an Electronic label, based in the US, and this is our mission: We want to find and sign emerging Dance artists from the US. Here are the three options, explained step-by-step.
#1 Find Electronic artists on the rise with Charts
✅ First, go to “CHARTS” in the navigation bar and click on “ARTIST CHARTS”.
✅ In the column on the left, you see country, genre and subgenre filters.
We select the United States, the Electronic genre, and Dance, because we’re scouting for artists in this specific subgenre.
✅ Then you select the channel on which you want to find the rising artists.
Initially you see them sorted by Viberate popularity, which shows an artist’s overall performance on social media and music channels. It makes more sense to change that to SOUNDCLOUD PLAYS, as SoundCloud is the go-to platform for a lot of independent Electronic artists.
(In this case, we could also go for Beatport or Spotify Charts, either of which is a good indicator of an Electronic artist’s performance.)
✅ Now you select a time period.
We’ll go for the number of SoundCloud plays in the past 3 MONTHS, as 12 months could be a bit too long to spot smaller emerging artists in time, while one month is too short to show the movement we’re interested in.
We see a listing of the Dance artists from the US who’ve gained the highest number of SoundCloud plays in the past three months. There are many big players like Marshmello and Diplo, but they aren't who we’re after.
Scroll down and look for artists who’ve gained a large number of plays, but have a lower Viberate Rank than the rest of the artists on the Chart. This means they're doing well on SoundCloud, but their other social media and music channels are not quite there yet. This combination could indicate a rising unestablished artist.
👉 The trick is to scroll down and look for artists who’ve gained a large number of plays, but have a lower Viberate Rank than the rest of the artists on the Chart.
Look at the image below to see exactly what we’re talking about. The two artists below have both gained 1M SoundCloud plays in the past 3 months. The first artist has a relatively high Viberate Rank (remember: this rank sorts every single artist in the world), while the other is ranked lower and therefore more likely to fit the brief.
A few of the artists that stand out in our case are Lucian, Tarro and Tim Gunter.
✅ Finally, can click on the artists who stand out and screen their analytics to get a better picture.
You can get a quick feel for them from their Career Health – the first section.
If Music Channel (and potentially Social Media) Performance is in the green, we could be talking about a breakthrough artist (like in the image above).
If you want to know how to easily screen artists through their stats, check out this guide.
There are two other ways to spot rising artists. The fastest rising artists in the Electronic genre and the US have already been selected by Viberate’s Genre and Country analytics. This is how you’ll find them.
#2 Look for rising artists in the Electronic genre
✅ Type “Electronic” in the search box, scroll through the results and click on the genre name.
This takes us to the genre’s Viberate Page.
✅ Once there, click on the ANALYTICS tab, where two sections are especially interesting.
First scroll down to the third section, Fastest Rising Electronic Artists. This is a selection of up to four Electronic artists on the rise that stood out in the past month. In our case, we’re looking for US artists. We can see that Or3o matches our criteria.
✅ Below, find Rising Electronic Artists by Viberate Rank, which is a more complete list of artists.
We can click through the pages at the bottom of the section and look for US artists to see if there are any matches for us. The deeper we go, the smaller the artists we find.
At the same time, we can screen their Career Health to get a sense of their performance. We’re looking for Music (and potentially Social) Performance in the green.
Here's one of the artists we’ve spotted with this method:
For a more specific overview, clicking on the artist takes us to their analytics. This is how you can screen their stats.
#3 Look for rising artists in the US
✅ Type “United States” in the search box, scroll through the results and click on the country.
This takes us to the country’s Viberate Page.
✅ Once there, click on the ANALYTICS tab.
The second section, Fastest Rising Local Artists, gives us a broad overview of up to four of the fastest rising artists of the past month. In our case, we’re looking to sign Dance artists, so we’ll check if there’s an artist like that in the selection. Again, Or3o made the list, proving that she’s a trending Dance artist.
To get an in-depth assessment of the spotted artist’s potential, we can click on them and check their analytics. Here's how to do that.
➡️ It’s your turn to give it a go. Go to the search box and try this method in your own case.
