Séance and the Kleptokids

Séance and the Kleptokids is an alternative rock band from the Philippines, currently residing in Metro Manila. They describe their sound as a cosmic blend of emo and queer angst shaped by ethereal soundscapes and narrative songwriting.

Known for their magnetic live performances, Séance and the Kleptokids merge theatricality with skill, cultivating a cult following that thrives on connection, catharsis, and the sense of belonging that defines their music. The band’s work with independent artists for visual art, merch, and design underscores their DIY roots and collaborative spirit, a reflection of their commitment to building communities where difference is celebrated and creation feels like home.

Their forthcoming debut album, Star Nymph, is a sprawling concept record — a cosmic coming-of-age story about alienation, censorship, false martyrdom, and the psychic bond between outcasts searching for freedom. The narrative is as much about the band’s shared experience as it is about its mythic protagonist, touching on the blurred lines between identity, memory, and meaning.

In September 2025, the band released their first single, To & From, the second track on Star Nymph. The song was introduced through a DIY campaign that invited fans to participate using early-2000s-inspired MySpace aesthetics — handwritten notes, grainy photos, and personal expression — highlighting the community’s creativity and emotional investment.

Their most recent release, “Serial Dater (So Done)” pays homage to a version of the song that was originally released deep into the pandemic in 2020 by their frontman, Séance Scythe, prior to forming the band as it stands today. The original version of the song was written about his own sapphic experiences as a teenager, in the hands of the current line-up and core members (Séance Scythe, Simon “Icarus” Rom, Juno, and Mire Xyphyr) it has since evolved into an anthemic and transcendent story about feeling held and helpless at the same time by the experiences and people you can’t let go of, all from a trans point of view.

With no fixed release date yet, Star Nymph continues to evolve alongside the group’s sound and story.
