Ross McMillan, known professionally as Carlos Nilmmns, is a Scottish electronic music producer, DJ, and composer originally from Glasgow. His interest in electronic music began in the early 1990s, influenced by the local scene and early releases from Glasgow’s 23rd Precinct Records. By the late 1990s, he began producing music and studying audio engineering, laying the foundation for his career.

McMillan’s early development was supported by producer Vince Watson, whose mentorship introduced him to studio production techniques and electronic composition. His initial work attracted attention from both EMI/Positiva Records and Glasgow DJ Domenic Cappello, who provided further guidance and encouraged McMillan’s exploration of Detroit and Chicago house music.

He became active within Glasgow’s creative community, collaborating with local producers and DJs including Graham Wilson, DJ Harri, Ian Elgey, Deek Reaper, and Kushi, and Tom McGarrigle. During this time, he also gained experience in classical and band settings, performing in orchestras as a child and later producing for funk and indie groups. He contributed remixes for various artists, including one fronted by a BAFTA-nominated musician.

McMillan worked for a while at Seventh Sign Recordings, gaining further insight into independent label operations and music curation. A subsequent move to France broadened his creative scope, involving work in theatre productions and collaborations with fashion brands in Paris.

Over the years, McMillan has collaborated with a range of notable artists, including Grammy-nominated and Grammy-winning figures. These include Kenny Dope (Grammy-nominated), Carl Craig (Grammy-nominated), Kevin Saunderson (Grammy-winning with Inner City), and Davina Bussey (Grammy-nominated vocalist). He has also worked with respected artists such as Niko Marks, DJ Rolando, Laurent Garnier, Santiago Salazar, Hardrock Striker, Karl The Voice, Zadig, Ben Sims, Andrés (Who worked with Jay Dilla and Moodymann), and YouANDme.

His music has been released on a number of respected labels, including Planet E Communications, TRAX Records, Cocoon, Ornaments, Cod3 QR, Circus Company, Virgin Records, and Skylax/Universal Music France. His style draws from house, techno, and jazz influences, often combining analog and digital production methods.

As of 2025 - He is now focusing on various projects for Laurent Garnier’s label Cod3 Qr and Ornaments. His collaboration song with Genoveva is featured on the TRAX 40 compilation as reported by DJ Mag has been nominated for 3 Grammys.

As a performer, McMillan has played DJ and live sets at clubs and festivals across Europe and internationally under various aliases. He continues to produce, perform, and collaborate on projects across electronic music, film, and the performing arts.
